Thursday, October 18, 2012, 16:00 GMT+7

The Soc Trang provincial Blind Association just concluded a five month training course for 18 visually impaired people, including how to read Braille, general rehabilitation and life skills, on October 17.

The project, funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and Vietnam’s Blind Association, is aimed at improving the capacity of young people and women in remote areas across the southern province and encourage them to integrate into the community.

According to the Chairman of the provincial Blind Association, Bui Van Thanh, after the training course, the trainees will be offered further employment.

From now until the end of 2013, the association will work with the SIDA and the Vietnam’s Blind Association and hold five more training courses for 50 blind Khmer people of working age in the province.
