Vietnamese health authorities have ordered recall of 17 kinds of skin whitening cosmetics produced by Japan’s Kanebo Cosmetics from the market since they contain a substance that could have harmful effects on the skin.
The Health Ministry’s Pharmaceutical Management Department The suspension was made more than a month after Kanebo Cosmetics announced a recall 54 skin-whitening products from all over Asia since these products contain Rhododenol that could cause white patches and uneven coloring on the skin. Among the above 54 products are two very well-known ones: Kanebo Blanshir Superior and White Deep.
The department requests that Hanoi-based LK Trading Co Ltd, which has imported these products into Vietnam, rapidly remove them from the market and report the results of the recall to the department before July 30.
The agency also asked Hanoi Health Department to supervise the recall by LK Trading Co Ltd.
These 17 products include:

Kanebo Blanchir Superior White Deep Night Conditioner II 8. Kanebo Blanchir Superior White Deep Night Conditioner 2 (C) 9. Kanebo Blanchir Superior White Deep Night Conditioner 1 (G) 10. Kanebo Blanchir Superior White Deep Mask 11. Kanebo Blanchir Superior White Deep UV day Protector 12. Impress IC White Lotion I 13. Impress IC White Lotion II 14. Impress IC White Emulsion I 15. Impress IC White Emulsion II 16. Impress IC White Fit Mask 3D 17. Impress Granmula Lotion.
There had been many complaints from customers in Japan who said they had developed white patches on their skin after using the products, according to Kanebo.
Kanebo has marketed a total of 4.36 million products of this kind in Japan and the recall is aimed at recalling 450,000 products that have been sold to consumers.
The recall will also be carried for 370,000 products that have been sold to other Asian countries and territories, including Vietnam.
Accordingly, except for Japan, the recall will affect 10 Asian countries and territories, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
