Hanoi: loudspeakers to trumpet traffic rules at rush hours

Hanoi: loudspeakers to trumpet traffic rules at rush hours

Thursday, August 01, 2013, 13:29 GMT+7

In an effort to enhance traffic safety awareness among drivers, police in Hanoi will coordinate with the local Transport Department in installing loudspeakers at key intersections in the capital to broadcast contents of the Road Traffic Law to drivers. The installation of loudspeakers will be carried out at 16 major crossroads, including the Yen Phu-Thanh Nien, Nguyen Trai-Khuat Duy Tien, Dien Bien Phu-Tran Phu, and Pham Hung-Xuan Thuy-Nguyen Phong Sac. According to the police’s plan, the broadcast program will be aired every day, from 7 to 9 am and from 4:30 to 6:30 pm or the rush hours in Hanoi, starting this month. The broadcasting will be based on the operation mechanism of traffic lights at these intersections. Accordingly, when the light turns red, drivers who are stopping at crossroads will hear important traffic rules aired from the loudspeakers, and when the light turns green, they will hear music without words. Besides the basic contents of the Road Traffic Law, drivers will also be provided with new regulations and instructions related to traffic safety and punishment. The broadcasting program will be updated regularly to ensure drivers will be provided with the latest information.
