Employees in Vietnam will have a six-day holiday, from April 28 to May 3, thanks to the coincidence of three national festivals in a week, according to Pham Thi Hai Chuyen, Minister of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs.
The six days off have been approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
The holiday will start on Tuesday, April 28, with the national festival to commemorate the death anniversary of the Hung Kings, the founders of the nation, which falls on the 10th day of the third month of this lunar year.
April 30 is Reunification Day and May 1 is International Labor Day, while May 2-3 are Saturday and Sunday.
To make up for Wednesday, April 29, which is not a day off, employees will have to go to work on the Saturday of the previous week, April 25, according to the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs.
In addition, the ministry also recommends that those agencies currently applying six working days a week arrange suitable days-off for their employees to enjoy the holiday.
The ministry also suggests that state agencies assign certain officials to remain on duty during the long holiday.
