Le Bao Loc, 40, a former model trainer and stage director; singer Nguyen Thi Hai Yen, 25; and three ex-students and freelance models including Le Thi Bao Tran, 26, Dang Thi Anh Dao, 24, Nguyen Thi Dieu Hien, 23, have been charged with procuring pursuant to Article 155 of the Penal Code, police said.
In the conclusion of their investigation, police said that Loc was the leader of the brokerage ring.
Loc admitted to police officers that he had acted as an intermediary for models and actresses to prostitute themselves for $500-1,000 a time since 2013.
These sex workers said the kingpin pocketed $200 as a brokerage fee per customer he introduced to them.
The case was uncovered on April 7, 2015, when police officers raided a hotel in District 1 and two hotels in Binh Chanh District following a tip-off and caught three amateur models having sex with their clients.
Based on the testimonies of these models, police arrested Loc and his four accomplices the same day on charges of prostitution brokerage.
As a model trainer and stage director, Loc had multiple relations with actresses and models in pageant contests, investigators said, adding that the man also had acquaintance with many rich men who wanted to have sex with beautiful women.
After a period of prostituting themselves through Loc’s brokerage, Yen, Hien, Dao and Tran introduced their friends, also actresses and models, to their customers to get commission, investigators said.
