Vietnamese train attendants successfully helped a mother give birth to a baby girl en route to a north-central province, officials said on Wednesday.
The pregnant passenger delivered a baby girl with support from the attendants on train SE 18, which departed from the Saigon terminal in Ho Chi Minh City for the Dong Le station in Quang Binh Province, said Thai Van Tuyen, manager of the Southern Attendants of Vietnam Railways.
On Tuesday, the attendants found Bui Thi Tinh, 32, from Nghe An, a north-central province, having imminent signs of labor.
The crew immediately transferred Tinh to another compartment to prepare her for the birth.
They then called for assistance from any passengers with delivery experience, but none were on board.
Twenty minutes later, the crew helped the pregnant woman successfully give birth to a daughter.
Following the birth, both mother and child were healthy and subsequently transferred to a hospital in Ha Tinh, another north-central province, for further treatment.
