-- The National Traffic Safety Committee has announced that 408 traffic accidents were recorded during nine days of the Lunar New Year holiday, from February 6 to 14, killing 300 and injuring 380 people across Vietnam, an overall decline compared to those of last year.

-- Six suspects have been arrested for allegedly murdering Le Thanh Vu, a director of a company in the coastal resort city of Nha Trang, on February 5, Colonel Tran Huu Truong, a police official in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa, said on Sunday.

-- Police in Thuan An Commune in the southern province of Binh Duong stated on Sunday that they had arrested Duong Van Canh for robbing a gold shop with a knife on the fourth day of the Lunar New Year holiday, February 11.

-- The Ministry of Health said in a document submitted to the Government Office on Sunday that over 5,100 people were hospitalized due to physical confrontation during the eight festive days, from February 6 to 13, killing 13. Doctors at Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi added that 20 cases of suicide were recorded during the holiday.   

-- Customs officers at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City announced on Sunday that a Chinese passenger traveling from the southern city to Cambodia was caught bringing a gun without any certificate of origin on Wednesday last week.

-- Many passengers still choose to wait in long lines to have necessary procedures completed for their flights while their check-in can be carried out online, taking only two to seven minutes and preventing the airports from being overloaded.

-- Many banks in Vietnam have resumed their business operations on Monday and are expected to offer their clients various promotions in order to attract more investment in the opening period of the lunar year.

Lifestyle

-- The Spring Flower Festival at Tao Dan Park in Ho Chi Minh City attracted over 700,000 visitors during its 12 days of opening, Tran The Ky, deputy director of the city’s Department of Transport and chief organizer of the festival, said during the event’s closing ceremony on Sunday evening.
