-- A voting commission will receive applications from those wanting to be members of the National Assembly and the People’s Council of Ho Chi Minh City for the 2016-21 tenure until March 3 at the office of the Department of Home Affairs.

-- A cold front is forecast to hit northern Vietnam between Tuesday and Friday this week, causing extreme cold weather in the region with the lowest temperatures being less than five degrees Celsius.

-- Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Viet Tien has ordered a DNA test when the baby of the female convict who impregnated herself while awaiting her death penalty in a prison in the northern Vietnamese province of Quang Ninh is born.

-- Le Tan Binh, a fisherman in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa who found a piece of debris suspected to be a part of an airplane on February 11, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Sunday that the text “CCBII-251ZTA – 2” was discovered on it.

-- Police in the southern province of Binh Phuoc said on Sunday that they had finished investigating the death of 25-year-old Tran Thi Huyen Trang. Trang was allegedly killed by her husband, Nguyen Quoc Hoan, on Saturday, who was believed to attempt to kill himself after committing the crime as several suicide notes were found at their house.

-- The operator of Vinpearl Safari on Phu Quoc, a tourist island off the southern province of Kien Giang, on Sunday refuted reports saying that thousands of animals in the zoo have died. In fact, only over 100 birds and mammals have been dead due to a long transportation process and their inability to adapt to a new environment, a representative said.

-- Many export-import enterprises in Vietnam have complained that several expenses related to the transfer of shipments onto and out of cargo vessels at Vietnamese ports have been increased, despite a decline in oil and gas prices in the country.
