-- Many parts of Hanoi were seriously flooded after a heavy rain on Wednesday. 

-- Ten in Vietnam aged from 0 to 19 drown every day, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said at a conference on Wednesday. At the event, the Ministry of Education and Training also said it has directed schools to teach kids to swim.

-- A Facebook user has recently posted a series of documents accusing numerous local press agencies of taking bribes from the Vietnamese business of leading Philippine food and beverage firm Universal Robina Corporation to cover up a scandal related to the lead content in one of its drinks.

-- The Department of Tourism in the central city of Da Nang has recently slapped a penalty of nearly VND185 million (US$8,259) on 10 Koreans for illegally carrying out tourism activities.

-- Vietnamese private airline Vietjet Air and Coca Cola Vietnam have signed a deal to boost cooperation, including an agreement to paint the logo of Coca Cola on Vietjet’s new planes.

-- Bangkok Airways on Wednesday officially put into operation a direct flight from Thailand’s capital to Vietnam’s central city of Da Nang. The carrier’s Bangkok-Da Nang route uses the Airbus 319 with 138 seats and offers four flights per week – on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

-- Vietnamese dairy firm Vinamilk on Wednesday inaugurated its factory with a total investment of $23 million in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The 30,000 square-meter place is expected to reach a capacity of 38 million liters of milk and 192 million boxes of yogurt a year in 2024.

-- Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee on Wednesday handed over the decision to establish the Fulbright University Vietnam (FUV) to FUV’s chairman Bob Kerry.

-- The Vietnam - Japan copyright festival will be organized for the first time in Ho Chi Minh City from May 26 to 28 with the participation of 25 publishers from the two countries.
