The provincial People’s Committee is investigating the logging. -- The People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa Province has requested local competent agencies to quickly inspect illegal workers in the locality. Authorities also encourage residents to denounce illicit foreign tour guides who distort Vietnamese history and culture. -- During 26 years of operation in Vietnam since 1989, non-profit organization Operation Smile has offered free-of-charge surgeries to more than 39,000 children suffering cleft palate in the country. Statistics show that one in 700 children was born in Vietnam with cleft lips and palate malformation.Business -- Management agencies should adjust and complete regulations on coffee standards to prevent the lack of transparency and fraud in producing coffee in Vietnam, delegates said Thursday at a workshop on tainted and fake coffee which has been rampant in the domestic market recently. The workshop was held by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper and the Vietnam Standard and Consumers Association.Sports -- The Vietnamese delegation on Thursday departed for the 2016 Summer Olympics (Rio 2016) in Brazil, slated for August 5 to 21. The event runs until August 20. -- Le Quang Sung Street in District 6 has recently turned into a street of bread grilled with chili salt, with tens of stalls selling the dish named “bánh mì nướng muối ớt” in Vietnamese. The new snack has become popular lately and quickly mesmerized many young diners in the city.
