-- A search and rescue ship from the Vung Tau Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (Vung Tau MRCC) on Thursday brought Filipino crew member Baroma Edmudo from the Nave Cetus vessel cruising from Mexico to Singapore to the southern Vietnamese city of Vung Tay for emergency aid. Earlier, the Vung Tau MRCC received the vessel’s request for help.

-- Vietnam’s National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has recently released a warning of the possibility of a heavy rain in the region from the northern provinces to Thua Thien-Hue Province. Rainfall could reach 400-500mm.

-- Plans for expanding Tan Son Nhat International Airport and its surrounding road system have been drafted after Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung inspected the airport in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday.

-- An explosion occurred at the spot where 13 wooden tourist boats of Mien Tay Tourism Ltd. Co. were anchored on the Tien River in the southern province of Ben Tre, sinking seven of them. No casualties were reported and damages may top VND4 billion (US$178,571).
