-- Five people were killed and one injured after floods and landslides occurred in the provinces from northern Vietnam to the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on Saturday and Sunday, according to the National Search and Rescue Committee.

-- A two-story building under construction in Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City, collapsed sideways due to a foundation failure and fell onto its neighboring residence on Saturday morning. There were no casualties in the incident.

-- Three children in Dak Lak Province, located in the Central Highlands, drowned in an accident at a local reservoir on Saturday evening.

-- Fishers in the north-central province of Nghe An caught an opah weighing nearly one metric ton and have given it to the Vietnam National Museum of Nature, a local official affirmed on Sunday.

-- Nguyen Ngoc Thua, general director of the Mien Dong (Eastern) Bus Station in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City, has announced that more coaches would be added while fares will remain the same in the upcoming National Day (September 2). The number of travelers is expected to rise by three to five percent during the three-day holiday, Thua said.

-- Five suspects have been detained for allegedly murdering one and critically injuring two forest protection officers in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, police said on Sunday.

-- A 74-year-old man was killed after being crushed under a truck that had lost control and tipped over in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang on Saturday afternoon.
