-- Chairwoman of Vietnam’s lawmaking National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and a delegation of high-ranking officials left Hanoi on Monday morning to pay a visit to Laos. The chairwoman is also scheduled to visit Cambodia from September 27 to 28 and Myanmar from September 28 to 29.

-- Ho Chi Minh City is set to begin the construction of a pipeline system worth over VND21 trillion (US$944.7 million) for flood control and sewage management in October.

-- Police in the northern Vietnamese province of Quang Ninh have identified Doan Trung Dung as the prime suspect in the murder of four family members, including a sexagenarian woman and her three grandchildren.

-- Traffic police in Hanoi have carried out an extensive inspection of local rudimentary vehicles overloaded with goods in order to ensure traffic safety, following the death of the second victim, a 64-year-old woman, caused by steel sheets in the capital on Sunday.

-- Scientists at the Institute of Oceanography in the south-central city of Nha Trang have succeeded in creating 100 arterial coral reefs, stretching 150 meters under the Nha Trang Bay, following their two and a half years of research and trial.

-- Vietnam’s vegetable and fruit exports from the beginning of this year to September 15 were recorded at $1.68 billion, exceeding the country’s crude oil shipments in the same period last year, according to customs statistics.

-- The Phuc Giang school woodblocks, located in the north-central province of Ha Tinh, were named UNESCO Documentary Heritage by the Memory of the World Committee for Asia and the Pacific on Sunday.

-- Vietnam bade farewell to the 2016 AFC Championship U16, hosted by India, after losing 0-5 to their Iranian opponents in the quarterfinals on Sunday evening.
