-- The 8th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam Summit and the 7th Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy were officially kick-started in Hanoi on Wednesday under the theme of developing a dynamic Mekong region.

-- Vietnamese State President Tran Dai Quang held talks with his Myanmarese counterpart Htin Kyaw, as part of the latter’s visit to Hanoi, on Wednesday evening. The two leaders agreed to boost cooperation in a variety of fields.

-- Dinh The Huynh, Politburo member and standing member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat, joined talks with United States Secretary of State John Kerry on Tuesday during his visit to the North American country scheduled for October 24-30. 


-- Ho Chi Minh City police discovered about 700 kilograms of ivory hidden in two containers, which were declared as carrying wood, at the Cat Lai Port on Wednesday.

-- The Department of Construction in the southern province of Binh Phuoc on Wednesday imposed a VND140 million (US$6,186) fine on three construction companies for carelessly implementing a local water supply and drainage project.

-- An extended area of the international terminal of Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City was put into operation on Wednesday, along with new airport services which are hoped to help relieve overloading and provide more convenience for passengers. 

-- Binh Tay Market in District 6, Ho Chi Minh City, will be temporarily shut down until November 11 for a comprehensive renovation.


-- The Ministry of Finance’s decision to list fertilizer as a non-taxable type of product has caused its price to hike, creating immense difficulty for both businesses and farmers.

-- Vietnam and Cambodia will apply tax exemption to a wide range of products, as part of an agreement to strengthen the two nations’ bilateral trade.

-- According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, the country’s shrimp exports had topped $2.2 billion in the year to September, up 5.6 percent year-on-year.


-- Vietnam are set to take on Japan in the semifinals of the 2016 AFC U19 Championship in Bahrain at 11:15 pm on Thursday (Vietnam time).
