A young man apparently under the influence of crystal methamphetamine ‘invaded’ the house of a family in Ho Chi Minh City at first light on Friday, locking himself there for seven hours before being apprehended by police.
D.T.K.L. and her family members were sleeping in their house in an alley on Ben Van Don Street in District 4 at 1:00 am, when a stranger knocked their door, the house owner recalled.
The man, then looking like he just fell off his motorbike with many wounds scattering on his body, asked to stay for the night, making no secret to the family that he was carrying a knife.
He then asked for some ice cubes, which he used to rub on his head, and eventually grabbed a bottle of fish sauce and doused himself with the liquid condiment.
All of the bizarre acts were done in front of the nephew of L., who slept on the ground floor while L. and her husband were upstair.
“My nephew then called my husband, who immediately went downstair and took all of the knives in the kitchen for hiding, as well as called the police,” L. recalled.
“As soon as police arrived, that guy took a pair of scissors, a knife and some chopsticks and rushed to the second floor, threatening to kill himself.”
Upon his invasion to the second floor, the man locked himself there until early in the morning, L. added.
At around 8:00 pm, the family cut off power for the house, and the man finally stepped out and immediately captured by police.
He was only identified as Tinh, aged 25.
Police also seized a Suzuki Sport motorbike registered in the neighboring province of Tay Ninh, which Tinh abandoned following his fall.
