A sculpture featuring Vietnam’s six kilo-class submarines has been exhibited by the country’s submarine brigade in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa.
The submarine brigade 189, under the navy’s 4th Regional Command, stationed in Cam Ranh City, Khanh Hoa, organized a ceremony to present the sculpture on Tuesday afternoon, with the attendance of 40 artists, youth union members from Ho Chi Minh City and Khanh Hoa, as well as leaders of the brigade.
The presentation is comprised of six miniature models of the Russian- made kilo- class submarines owned by the Vietnam People’s Navy.
The statue also represents the six locations that bear the names of the six vessels, including Hanoi and Hai Phong in the north, Da Nang City in the central region, Khanh Hoa Province in south-central Vietnam, and Ho Chi Minh City in the south.
According to Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huu Minh, commissar of brigade 189, the logo of the naval unit is placed in the middle of the work, representing the unity between the navy, army, and people from the six provinces and cities.

An anchor attached to the submarines represents the amulet worn by naval officers during their missions at sea, Sen. Lt. Col. Minh added.
“The entire relief is placed on the background of a flying pigeon, resembling the Vietnamese people’s and army’s mutual desire for peace, despite their modern arsenal,” the naval official continued.
The attending delegation was given the opportunity to witness multiple exhibits inside the traditional room of the submarine brigade on the evening of the same day, including photos of submarines and officers during their exercises.
They visited the submarine simulation room where members of the naval unit conduct their training as well as real-life submarines docked at the Cam Ranh Port.
The series of activities was part of a festival themed “Spring on the sea and islands,” held between January 10 and 12 in Cam Ranh by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper and the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Culture House.
