-- Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Sunday launched a forum on traffic safety to receive photos, videos, feedback and opinions regarding traffic situations in Ho Chi Minh City. 

-- A conference was organized in the northern Vietnamese province of Lang Son on Sunday morning to discuss measures to prevent the spread of bird flu via illegally imported poultry.

-- A fire destroyed three fishing boats docking in Hau Loc District, located in the north-central province of Thanh Hoa, on Sunday morning, causing damage of over VND3 billion (US$131,500).

-- Several weigh stations, whose construction cost billions of dong (VND1 billion = US$43,833), have not proved effective as overloaded truck drivers still manage to dodge the checkpoints and carry on with their violations.

-- Two earthquakes measuring over three on the Richter scale hit areas near the Tranh River 2 hydroelectric dam in the central province of Quang Nam on Sunday afternoon and evening.

-- Five people were injured on Sunday morning after a container truck lost its control due to a tire explosion and rammed a passenger bus traveling in the opposite direction on an expressway connecting Hanoi and the northern province of Thai Nguyen.


-- According to national carrier Vietnam Airlines, a hike in fuel cost has caused its operating expenditures to rise, affecting the company’s profit in the first two months of this year.


-- A university admission and vocational counseling fair was organized at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology on Sunday by Tuoi Tre and the Ministry of Education and Training.


-- Over 300 experts on a variety of fields gathered in Hanoi on Sunday morning to attend a scientific conference on establishing an encyclopedia for Vietnamese people.
