-- Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Thursday met with Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko in Hanoi, hailing their visit to Vietnam as a significant and memorable landmark in the two countries’ bilateral ties.

-- The Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia is working on citizen protection for Doan Thi Huong, a suspect in the murder of North Korean citizen Kim Jong-nam on February 13.

-- Hanoi People’s Committee had asked a number of agencies and departments to work on Saturday, except for holidays, instead of taking a whole weekend off like before, starting from March 10.

-- Police in the central city of Da Nang said they have arrested a suspect who allegedly robbed VND50 million (US$2,100) from a Vietinbank branch in Son Tra District on Thursday, only eight minutes after the robbery took place.

-- A Chinese national named Dai Da Peng, 26, is being held by police in Ho Chi Minh City for allegedly stealing VND13 million ($569) from another passenger on board a Hanoi-bound flight on Thursday morning.

-- More than 60 students in the southern province of Tra Vinh were hospitalized on Thursday for poisoning after inhaling pesticide gas from a farm 60km away from their classroom.

-- Nearly 600 enterprises were honored on Thursday with the High-Quality Vietnamese Products title voted by consumers in 2017.

-- General Robert Brown, commanding general of the United States Army Pacific, on February 24 officially handed over the Quang Phuoc Kindergarten to local community in the central province of Thua Thien – Hue as part of the United States Army Corps of Engineers Humanitarian Assistance project, the U.S. embassy in Hanoi said in a press release on Thursday.
