-- Young parliamentarians from the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie visited the Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper office in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday.

-- A sexagenarian woman and her son were found dead with several stabbing wounds on Saturday in their own home in My Tho City, the heart of Tien Giang Province in the Mekong Delta.

-- Survey stalls will be erected at public hospitals throughout Ho Chi Minh City, starting mid-April, to gauge patients’ satisfaction and promptly pass on their feedback to hospital leaders and the municipal Department of Health.

-- An hours-long power outage occurred on Saturday afternoon in Ben Cat Town in Binh Duong Province, approximately 30 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City, affecting many households and industrial parks in the neighborhood and nearby Tay Ninh Province, as rescuers tried to persuade a 29-year-old man perched atop a high-voltage electricity pole in a suicide attempt to climb down to safety.

-- Local administrations across the Mekong Delta are grappling to process a huge amount of refuse as several waste treatment plants are under construction or operating at an overloaded capacity.

-- People in different cities and provinces throughout Vietnam, including Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, turned off power for an hour on Saturday night in observance of the global Earth Hour 2017 campaign, meant to raise public awareness of environmental protection, climate change, and energy saving.

-- Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, more than 400 delegates from ministries, local and international organizations, and enterprises will attend an investment promotion seminar held on Sunday in Tam Ky City, the heart of central Quang Nam Province, which has made it to the central region’s top list of budget collectors in 2016.

-- Thousands of international tourists flocked to Ha Long City, home to the UNESCO-recognized Ha Long Bay, in the northern province of Quang Ninh, with Chinese arrivals accounting for up to 70 percent, on weekends this month.

-- On Saturday, more than 1,000 people flocked to a betted horse race field in Da Huoai District in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, which is the first to resume operation since another field in Ho Chi Minh City closed down in 2011.
