Politics -- Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc began a two-day visit to Cambodia at the invitation of Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni on Monday, as the two countries are celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. -- Vietnam and New Zealand look forward to lifting their bilateral relations to a higher level, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and visiting Foreign Minister of New Zealand Murray McCully said after having talks in Hanoi on Monday.Society -- The administration of the southern province of Kien Giang has approved a US$2.9 million project to develop a smart city on Phu Quoc Island in the 2016-20 period. -- Police in the southern province of Dong Nai said on Monday they had detained seven people involved in a counterfeit money ring that smuggled VND80 million ($3,571) worth of fake banknotes into Vietnam from China. -- Customs officers at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi said on Monday they had detected 3kg of suspected rhino horn hidden in the luggage of a passenger arriving from Myanmar last weekend.

-- Besides allowing a developer to build a golf course without the premier’s approval on a 140 hectare area of protection forest, the administration of the south-central province of Phu Yen has also been found allocating a total of 1,000 hectares of forest land to 20 different investment projects.

-- Some 38 million Vietnamese people are using mobile phones to access social networks, with 94 percent of them doing so on a daily basis, according to a report by mobile platform provider Appota.

Business -- Many drivers in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong City and other localities have refused to use modern, well-equipped toll roads to avoid the high fees and confusing toll collection regulations there.

-- Vietjet is offering one million promotional tickets priced from only $0 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm during what the low-cost carrier claims to be its "most outstanding campaign ever" from April 25 to June 15.

-- A $28.3 million plant that generates power from industrial waste, the first of its kind in Vietnam, was inaugurated and officially put into operation in the outlying district of Soc Son in Hanoi on Monday.

-- The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has asked airport operators across the country to beef up security during the upcoming long holidays in celebration of the Reunification Day on April 30 and Labor Day on May 1.

-- A number of public officers, hotels and cafés in the central city of Hue have put up "Free WC" signs, inviting tourists and locals to use their restrooms for free.
