-- The Japanese Coast Guard announced on Monday that its patrol vessel Echigo is scheduled to arrive in central Vietnam's Da Nang port on June 13 to take part in joint anti-piracy drills.

-- Phi Thai Binh, former Hanoi deputy chairman and ex-deputy chairman of Vinaconex, the developer of the notorious Song Da Water Project, and six others have been put under criminal investigation for “violating regulations on construction.” The project, supplying clean water to several urban areas in Hanoi, suffered 14 pipeline breaks in three years under Binh's chairmanship.

-- A British national was found dead hanging aboard an unregistered tourist boat on Lan Ha Bay off the northern city of Hai Phong on Sunday night, a local official confirmed on Monday.
