-- Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, who is on an official visit to Japan between June 4 and 8, and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe on Tuesday witnessed the signing of strategic cooperative agreements between the two nations’ ministry representatives.

-- Czech President Milos Zeman and his wife on Tuesday commenced their state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of State President Tran Dai Quang.

-- A 62-year-old man allegedly died of heatstroke which aggravated his heart disease while he was dragging his bike with a flat tire in the scorching sun in Kim Thanh District, located in the northern province of Hai Duong, on Tuesday noon. 

-- The extreme heat wave that impacted northern Vietnam, including Hanoi, over the past several days, has come to an end as most mountainous provinces and the capital experienced refreshing showers on Monday night, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting  announced on Tuesday.

-- Sand prices have skyrocketed by up to 50 percent across the Mekong Delta in recent times, which has hurt construction works owned by state agencies as well as residents, following a government’s order that the issue of new sand mining permits be suspended due to the extensive damage the activity has caused.

-- Police in Cam Ranh City in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa are investigating a case in which a 39-year-old man allegedly stabbed his ex-wife and her teenage son to death before committing suicide by setting fire to himself on Monday.  

-- The sheriff of Tan Phuoc District in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang has confirmed a man had hired a truck to carry 1.4 metric tons of dried sheep hide from Ho Chi Minh City, and had the truck driver dump the textile waste near his home on Monday.   

-- Police in Thanh Chuong District in the north-central province of Nghe An have revealed they had caught a Vietnamese truck driver while attempting to illegally transport the carcasses of four monkeys and a douc from Laos on Tuesday.

-- Vietnam has decided to extend a visa waiver program from July 1 to June 30, 2018 to German, French, British, Italian, and Spanish visitors.

-- The management of Cai Lan Sea Port in Ha Long City, located in the northern province of Quang Ninh, on Tuesday launched a new maritime transportation route connecting Vietnam with India, Malaysia, Singapore, China and South Korea.

-- A number of Tuoi Tre (Youth) readers have voiced their anger at a viral video clip which featured scantily-clad female dancers making titillating movements in front of the spectators, many of whom were children, in a pilot program launched by Dam Sen Theme Park’s water park in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday.
