-- Several aviation experts have confirmed the feasibility of a proposal to expand Ho Chi Minh City’s overloaded Tan Son Nhat International Airport to its north, where a sweeping golf course is occupying a huge area lying within its boundaries and has hindered its enlargement.

-- A low-pressure system that formed east of the East Vietnam Sea has fortified into a tropical depression, which is forecast to gather enough strength to become a storm and bring lashing rain to the southern provinces in the next few days, Vietnam's National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting announced on Saturday.

-- The bodies of two Ba Na ethnic minority girls, aged 10 and 12, were found on Saturday after they had taken a bath in a river that runs through Sa Thay District in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum two days earlier.

-- Several cardholders have complained about having lost money in their accounts overnight, while banks are struggling powerlessly to protect their clients from the risks, which have recently recurred after quietening down for some time.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Taxation has revealed they had inspected 7,230 businesses and collected more than VND1.75 trillion (US$76.2 million) in tax arrears within the first five months of 2017, a 37.19- percent rise compared to the same period last year.

-- The 2017 International Essay Contest for Young People, themed ‘Learning from Nature,’ as part of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)’s Global Action Program on Education for Sustainable Development, is calling for entries in English and some other languages from people who are 25 years old and under from now to June 15.
