A man apparently under the influence of methamphetamine was filmed setting fire to his motorbike and himself in the southern province of Dong Nai on Wednesday.

According to initial reports, the man stopped his motorbike near the Tam Hiep Roundabout in the provincial capital of Bien Hoa at around 6:30 am before setting it on fire.

While his vehicle was burning, the man continued to douse himself with a can of petrol. However, bystanders managed to stop him from inflaming himself.

As seen in the video posted on the Facebook page “Nguoi Dong Nai” (Dong Nai’s People), passers-by extinguished the fire and calmed the man down, who attempted to run into the fire.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after and took the man in question to the station for investigation. The motorbike was completely destroyed but the alleged drug user was unharmed.

The man was later identified as Duong Quang Ngoc, 35, a Bien Hoa resident. He showed signs of being under the influence of meth while working with police.
