-- The Ministry of Planning and Investment has sought opinions from its subordinate agency regarding a project to build an avenue along the Saigon River in Ho Chi Minh City under a build-transfer contract.


-- The 24th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Finance Ministers’ Meeting, the most important event of the APEC Finance Ministers Process, wrapped up in Hoi An City, home to the UNESCO-recognized namesake Ancient Town, in the central province of Quang Nam on Saturday after issuing a joint ministerial statement.

-- Leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and three Dong Thap Muoi (Plain of Reeds) provinces in the Mekong Delta discussed ways on Saturday to collectively tap on the localities’ potential to boost zonal economic growth.  

-- A network has been launched to create an auspicious environment to promote and support the development of small and medium enterprises with high-growth potential across Vietnam.

-- Despite efforts and liaison between travel firms and owners of gardens nestled on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City to lure vacationers with appealing ecological and waterway tours, the reality has failed to live up to potentialities over spontaneous operations.


-- A total of 130 representatives from Vietnam have participated in a clutch of significant activities at the one-week 19th World Festival of Youth and Students, which wraps up today (October 22) in Sochi, Russia.

-- More than 80 valedictorians at universities and colleges throughout Ho Chi Minh City were honored at a ceremony on Saturday.


-- Vietnam's National Assembly (NA) deputy chairwoman Tong Thi Phong and the NA's Ethnic Council urged more private capital be mobilized during a working trip on Saturday to the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Ba Vi District, Hanoi, which has languished in operation despite hefty initial investment.
