Hanoi and provinces in northern Vietnam is forecast to suffer from a fresh cold spell in the next few days, with temperature likely to fall below 10 degrees Celsius in certain places.
Cold air currents are travelling south and are expected to hit northern Vietnam on Sunday morning, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
The wind will become stronger at level 2 or 3 in inland provinces and at level 3 or 4 in coastal places in the evening the same day, making it frigid at night for some mountainous areas.
It is expected that coastal provinces in central and south-central Vietnam will also suffer a cold snap from Monday, according to the forecasting center.
From Monday, the weather will become freezing in the early morning with lowest temperatures going down to 16-19 degrees Celsius in most places.
Mountainous areas may have lower temperatures at 12-15 degrees Celsius or even below 10 degrees Celsius in higher mountainous areas.
In Hanoi, temperatures may fall to 19-22 degrees Celsius on Sunday night. From Monday, readings can drop to 16-19 degrees Celsius during nighttime or in the early morning. During the day, there will be sunshine and temperatures can reach 24-27 degrees Celsius.
The northern region of the East Vietnam Sea will develop strong winds up to level 6 or 7, with intermittent gusts of level 9. From Sunday, there will be winds up to level 6, with level-8 intermittent gusts in the Gulf of Tonkin.
From October 30, the sea areas located off the coast of central and southern Vietnam will develop strong winds up to level 6 and level-8 intermittent gusts, making the water rough.
From Monday, coastal provinces in central and south-central Vietnam will receive rains, with some places having heavy downpours, strong winds, or even vortexes.
