-- General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President Xi Jinping joined talks with Vietnamese State President Tran Dai Quang in Hanoi on Monday, as part of his state visit to Vietnam on November 12 and 13.

-- Police in the northern Vietnamese province of Lao Cai confirmed on Monday they were looking into a burglary taking place at the headquarters of the provincial customs department. Security camera footage showed that three men had broken into the building but did not take any valuable.

-- A 67-year-old woman in the northern province of Thai Nguyen was killed on Monday morning, while her 17-year-old grandson was injured after a blast occurred as they opened their house’s front door. Police are investigating the cause of the explosion.

-- An increasing number of cars in the southern province of Binh Duong have had their windows broken and property inside stolen, officers have warned local residents.

-- Police in the northern city of Hai Phong are probing a case in which a car driver slammed into multiple motorbikes as he was delighting in a balloon of nitrous oxide while driving on Sunday night.

-- Pham Hong Son was re-elected as secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City chapter of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union for the 2017-22 tenure on Monday.

-- Vietnam’s exports of fruits and vegetables topped US$2.62 billion January-September, which is higher than the country’s export value of oil and gas, as well as rice.

-- Ho Chi Minh City will only allow the establishment of modern slaughterhouses, Vo Van Hoan, spokesperson of the municipal People’s Committee, said on Monday.
