A cold front has began impacting northern Vietnam, causing temperatures in the region to plummet significantly.
The mercury in most northern areas has dropped by six to eight degrees Celsius since Monday, under the influence of a growing cold front.
At the Mau Son peak in Lang Son Province, temperatures dipped to as low as four degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, residents in Hanoi also experienced a change in weather after light rain and wind occurred on Monday morning, causing temperatures to drop by three to five degrees Celsius.
According to the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, the cold snap will continue impacting northern provinces until January 14.
Average temperatures will range from 10 to 12 degrees Celsius in the delta, including Hanoi, six to nine degrees Celsius in mountainous areas, and below three degrees Celsius at higher altitudes.
The conditions are then expected to spread to the north-central and central regions, resulting in continuous downpours.
Strong winds and rough seas are also forecast near the Gulf of Tonkin and the northern part of the East Vietnam Sea.
