A motorcyclist has had his head severed after a collision with a truck along a bridge in Vietnam.
The victim was Nguyen Van Tan, 33, residing in the An Thuan Commune, Thanh Phu District, Ben Tre Province, the provincial Department of Police confirmed.
Tan was descending the Ham Luong Bridge, which crosses the namesake river to connect Ben Tre City and Mo Cay Bac District in the province, on Saturday morning when his motorbike collided with a truck traveling in the opposite direction.
The truck was steered by 22-year-old Pham Ngoc Quyen, who lives in the southern province of Dong Nai.
The accident instantly killed Tan, while his head was cut off and fell to the ground underneath the bridge.
The truck had its front damaged and lay entirely in the lane of the opposite direction.
Competent agencies later arrived at the scene to carry out an investigation.

In other news, a rider of a high-capacity motorbike lost his life after hitting a truck in Dong Nai Province at around 11:00 am on the same day.
The victim, 28-year-old Hoang Minh Tr., a resident in Hoc Mon District, Ho Chi Minh City, was traveling on Vo Nguyen Giap Street when his motorbike crashed into the truck, before hitting the median strip.
Tr. suffered multiple injuries and was admitted to the hospital for emergency treatment, but succumbed to the wounds on the evening of the same day.
His motorbike was severely damaged.
Initial information showed that the victim was on his way to the Vietnam Motor Festival 2018, which takes place at the Giang Dien Waterfall tourist site in Trang Bom District, Dong Nai, on April 14 and 15.
