Police in southern Vietnam on Wednesday took into custody a man believed to have sexually abused his biological daughter, after the ten-year-old girl denounced his molestation in a video that widely circulated on social media earlier this week.

H.V.H., a 47-year-old resident in Can Giuoc District of Long An Province, was arrested and is being held on criminal charges of child abuse.

H.’s ten-year-old daughter had returned to his house and lived with him again over the past four months, after her mother took her to a different place due to a dysfunctional marriage, according to preliminary police records.

On Tuesday night, a four-minute video surfaced on Facebook of the girl telling her relatives about the father’s sexual abuse.

The girl is heard saying in tears that H. forced her to have sex with him a number of times and warned her against revealing that to anyone else.

The man, infamous for his drunkenness, also sexually abused several other children in the neighborhood on multiple occasions, according to the daughter’s account.

The footage, apparently filmed by one of the relatives, quickly aroused angry reactions from viewers.

On Wednesday, local police took the daughter to hospital for a check and tests showed signs of her being sexually abused by her own father.
