-- Vietnam always wants to strengthen and develop the traditional friendship with North Korea, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said during his reception of North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho in Hanoi on Saturday.


-- The border guard offices and Red Cross Societies in Ho Chi Minh City and the south-central province of Khanh Hoa have offered support worth VND500 million (US$21,365) to flood victims in Nha Trang, a beach city in Khanh Hoa, after Storm Asugi hit the region last Sunday.

-- Police in Hoc Mon District, Ho Chi Minh City confirmed on Saturday they had apprehended a 28-year-old man for allegedly beating to death an officer on the afternoon of the same day.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has recently urged the municipal administration to initiate a project on ring road No. 3, which is expected to cost VND19.8 trillion ($845.3 million).

-- Officers in the southern province of Dong Nai said on Saturday they were looking into a case where a 50-year-old female middle school teacher was seriously injured after a strange man threw a rock at her face on Friday afternoon.

-- Police in the southern province of Binh Duong are investigating the cause of the death of a 38-year-old man whose burned body was found in front of his house on Saturday morning.

-- Facebook users in Vietnam were once again infuriated on Saturday after another monkey was filmed being killed in a live-streamed video uploaded to the personal account of a man who is believed to reside in the north-central province of Ha Tinh. 


-- More than 1,000 young people attended a startup and innovation fair in the central city of Da Nang on Saturday, which featured about 30 youth startup products, models, and ideas.


-- Vietnam will take on the Philippines in the semifinal first leg of the 2018 AFF (ASEAN Football Federation) Championship in the Filipino city of Bacolod at 6:30 pm on Sunday. The game will be broadcast live on VTV6 Channel.
