A three-year-old boy was killed after a falling brick hit his head while he was playing on the premises of an apartment building in the north-central Vietnamese province of Nghe An.

The incident happened at the Lotus House Apartment Building, located in Quang Trung Ward, Vinh City, at around 5:30 pm on Tuesday.

A resident at the building took her three-year-old son to play with a slide prior to the accident.

A brick suddenly fell onto the child and seriously injured him.

He was immediately brought to the hospital for emergency treatment but later succumbed to the wound.

According to T.V.H., an eyewitness, he heard screams coming from the scene of the accident.

As soon as he arrived, the young boy was unconscious on the ground and a lot of blood was coming out from his head.

A brick as big as a shoe was found near the victim, H. recalled.

“About seven other children were playing in the area,” the resident stated.

“No construction was being carried out at the time. The brick must have fallen from the top floor of the building.”

Police officers finished examining the site at 10:15 pm on the same day and collected several objects to assist further investigation.

The boy’s body has been brought back to the family for funeral rituals.

Designed with a total of 15 floors, the Lotus House Apartment Building was put into operation in 2013.

Earlier on Sunday, a five-year-old girl fell to her death from the ninth floor of an apartment complex in District 2, Ho Chi Minh City.

Her mother left the kid alone in the apartment to run some errands prior to the tragedy.
