-- Thousands of vehicles were trapped in a serious traffic jam along an expressway connecting Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang, following a multiple-vehicle collision involving seven automobiles on Saturday morning.

-- Two children, aged 11 and 13, were injured after being struck by lightning while sleeping in their home in the northern Vietnamese province of Lao Cai on early Saturday morning.

-- A 45-year-old security guard in the southern province of Binh Duong had his left arm chopped off after being attacked by two masked men armed with machetes in a parking basement of a local apartment complex on Friday night.

-- A total of 47 men and women tested positive for drugs after police raided a karaoke shop in the southern province of Dong Nai on early Saturday morning.
