-- Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh and foreign ministers of China and ASEAN countries discussed recent developments in the East Vietnam Sea at the ASEAN-China Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Bangkok on Wednesday.

-- The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment reportedly appointed unqualified candidates to 58 positions in its agencies from January 2016 to September 2018, according to the inspectorate of the Ministry of Home Affairs.


-- Vietnamese authorities on Thursday extradited to China nearly 400 Chinese suspects who were arrested in a multimillion-dollar gambling ring busted in Vietnam over the weekend.

-- The central city of Da Nang and Facebook on Wednesday launched a partnership program on enhancing disaster response and digital capacity, the first of its kind sealed between the social network giant and a Vietnamese locality.

-- Three people died and one was seriously injured after a train hit a 16-seater passenger bus in the south-central province of Binh Thuan on Wednesday morning.

-- Nearly 80 meters of National Highway No. 91 in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang, which runs adjacent to the bank of Hau (Back) River, has sunk into the river on Thursday early morning.


-- The national consumer price index (CPI) in July grew 0.18 percent from the previous month and 2.44 percent year-on-year, according to the General Statistics Office.

-- The 2019 edition of Hanoi Gift Show, an annual event for the Vietnamese and Hanoi traditional handicraft sector to promote exports and sustainable development, will run from October 17 to 20, featuring 650 booths of handicraft products, the municipal Department of Industry and Trade announced at a press conference on Wednesday.


-- Dozens of artisans, designers, and enterprises of Vietnam and the International Silk Association are expected to attend the Vietnam-International Silk and Brocatelle Culture Festival 2019, which will take place from August 7 to 9 at Hoi An Silk Village in the central province of Quang Nam.

-- The fifth Coconut Festival will be held in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre from November 14 to 20, the provincial administration announced at a press conference in Hanoi on Wednesday.
