-- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen concluded his two-day official visit to Vietnam on Saturday after he had joined talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc, paid a courtesy visit to Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong, and met with National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.


-- A parent installed a hidden camera inside a second-grade classroom at a primary school in Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City in late August and discovered that the homeroom teacher has been physically abusing multiple students. The case is now being investigated by local authorities.

-- A crowd of people gathered in front of a packaging company in the central province of Quang Nam on Saturday evening and demanded the truth behind the mysterious death of a 31-year-old worker that was discovered earlier the same day.

-- Residents in the north-central province of Nghe An have been upset after multiple dead pig bodies had been dumped along a section of the Dao River over the past days, resulting in an unpleasant odor and high risks of environmental pollution.

-- Serious flooding caused by continuous downpours submerged 189 houses in the southern province of Binh Phuoc and caused damage worth more than VND6 billion (US$258,000).

-- Police in Hanoi were able to convince a 29-year-old woman to change her mind after she left behind her son and attempted to jump off the Chuong Duong Bridge on Saturday morning.


-- National carrier Vietnam Airlines has announced that it will launch direct air routes linking Ho Chi Minh City with Indonesia’s Bali and Thailand’s Phuket on October 27.
