-- The Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense held a grand ceremony in Hanoi on Saturday to celebrate the 30th All People’s Defense Festival and the 75th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22).


-- Police in the southern province of Dong Nai on Saturday night arrested about 10 members of a debt collection gang after they were caught red-handed attacking the director of a local hospital, who was one of the debtors.

-- A ward-level police officer and member of a neighborhood watch in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City have been apprehended for confiscating the motorbike of a resident against the law and asking him to pay a large amount of money to reclaim it.

-- A serious traffic jam occurred at the entrance of Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday morning as blockades were placed along several streets for a bicycle racing tournament.

-- Police in the north-central province of Quang Binh are hunting for two suspects who have run away into the forest and left behind an automobile carrying over 200 kilograms of crystal meth on Saturday afternoon.

-- Vietnamese rescue units have brought an Indonesian crew member of a Greek ship to the mainland in south-central Khanh Hoa Province for emergency treatment after he had showed signs of brain hemorrhage.


-- The Ho Chi Minh City-based Tan Son Nhat International Airport plans to welcome over 3.7 million passengers during the upcoming Lunar New Year festival (Tet), up by 5.95 percent annually. The peak time is forecast to last from January 10 to February 2, 2020.

-- With the Vietnamese coffee industry currently exporting to 80 countries and territories globally, the sector is now trying to realize its ambition to reach an export turnover of US$6 billion in 2020.
