Vietnam’s Ministry of Health documented five imported cases of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Wednesday morning, bringing the country’s tally to 401.
Patient No. 397, a 58-year-old Ho Chi Minh City woman, returned to the country from the U.S. on July 16.
She landed at Van Don International Airport in the northern province of Quang Ninh and was brought to a quarantine center in northern Hai Duong Province.
She tested positive for the novel coronavirus twice on July 17 and 20 and was transferred to a hospital for tropical diseases in Hai Duong for treatment.
Patients No. 398 to 401 are four Vietnamese men, aged 24 to 25, who were all repatriated from Russia on July 17.
They were quarantined in the northern province of Hoa Binh and tested positive for the novel coronavirus on July 21.
The patients are now being treated at Hoa Binh General Hospital.
Vietnam’s COVID-19 has reached 401, with 365 having recovered. No death from the disease has been recorded.
The country has not documented a community infection since April 16.
More than 270 Vietnamese citizens were repatriated from Romania and Poland on Wednesday morning. They were transported to a quarantine center after landing in the central city of Da Nang.
A total of 308 Vietnamese citizens were also brought home from Malaysia on Tuesday afternoon.
The Ministry of Health is planning to repatriate about 120 Vietnamese COVID-19 patients stranded in Equatorial Guinea in August.
The flight carrying these patients is expected to be accompanied by four doctors. They will be admitted to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi following their arrival.
