Four people died on Tuesday when land collapsed at a construction site in northern Vietnam.
The land collapse happened at 8:30 am at a vocational school in Gia Cam Ward, Viet Tri City, which is the capital of Phu Tho Province, a source told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.
Some people were working at a construction site in the school when soil from an overhead structure suddenly slid down on them.
Rescuers arrived at the scene shortly after the accident occurred to pull people out from the rubble.
Police officers and soldiers also joined the rescue mission, Nguyen Ngoc Son, chairman of the Viet Tri People’s Commitee, told Tuoi Tre on Tuesday afternoon.
“We had completed the mission by noon,” Son said.
“Four people had died upon being found under the soil.”
Son added that local authorities would hand over their bodies and offer condolences to their families in the flesh.
It was not immediately clear why the land had collapsed. Police are probing the cause.
