— Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh on Wednesday held talks with UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs and First Secretary of State Dominic Raab in Hanoi, during which they agreed on joint efforts toward a higher level of their countries' bilateral strategic partnership, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

— The Ho Chi Minh City’s People Committee has decided to choose an education facility in Nha Be District to serve contemporary management over foreigners who illegally entered the city.

— A Russian expert entering Vietnam on September 26 has tested positive for COVID-19, the Ministry of Health announced on Thursday morning, increasing the country’s tally to 1,095. The patient was put in quarantine upon his arrival.

— According to the Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Center, the southern region including Ho Chi Minh City will see increasing rainfalls in the first ten days of October, and October and November will be the peak of this year’s rainy season in the region.

— Police in An Giang Province on Wednesday detained six motorboats transporting goods smuggled from Cambodian into Vietnam.

— The southern Can Tho City People's Court on Wednesday sentenced Bui Thuy Thu, 40, to 10 years, Nguyen Thi A Khuong, 22, to 12 years, and Duong Minh Hung, 35, to 16 years in prison for trafficking people under 16 after the group had set up a ring to bring many Vietnamese women to China for marriage and earned hundreds of millions of dong from this.

— The State Treasury mobilized over VND14.4 trillion (US$623 million) through government bond auctions on the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Wednesday, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

— Singapore will lift its border restrictions on visitors from Vietnam from October 8, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore said on Wednesday.
