Police in the northern Vietnamese province of Ha Giang took legal proceedings against Giang Chan Diu and his children for strangling two people to death after Diu lost in a lawsuit on land disputes.

Giang Chan Diu, 51, and his three sons – Giang Seo Seng, 27, Giang Seo Phang, 22, and Giang Seo Phong, 17 – have been arrested on charges of murder, police said on Monday.

According to initial investigation, Diu’s family and another household in the same village had disputes over an area used for farming corn.

Therefore, the People’s Court in Xin Man District opened a first-instance court to review the civil case.

At the court, Thao Chinh Di, the father of 30-year-old Thao Seo Si, was present as a witness to verify that the farming land did not belong to Diu’s family.

Diu got upset and sought revenge on Di.

At 10:00 pm on October 30, Diu and his three sons brought hammers and ropes to Di’s house but the door was locked.

So, they went to Thao Seo Sang’s house, a brother of Di's living next door, and strangled Sang and Di to death.

The four then hung the two victims up and left.
