— The Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) has passed a legal provision giving US$100,000 in aid to help flood victims in central Vietnam, according to the Vietnamese National Assembly Office.  

Society

— Police in Ho Chi Minh City have launched an investigation into a case where the headless body of a woman was found near an air vent in the Hoang Anh Thanh Binh apartment building in District 7 on Sunday morning.

— A fire broke out at a building in the Times City Park Hill premium complex in Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi at around 11:10 pm on Sunday and was extinguished after 30 minutes, leaving no casualties or injury.

— Villagers in Dong Binh Village of Duy Vinh Commune, located in Duy Xuyen District of the central province of Quang Nam, have joined hands to fix a local dam, which was broken due to violent currents caused by heavy rains and water released from upstream, isolating 450 households since Saturday afternoon.

— An off-road military light utility vehicle carrying seven visitors from the central Vietnamese city of Da Nang plunged off a 100-meter-high mountain cliff in Dong Van District of the northernmost province of Ha Giang on Sunday morning, causing three to die and four to be injured.

— A new storm, the 12th to likely hit Vietnam in 2020, was situated 180km north of Song Tu Tay Island in Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago at 4:00 am on Monday, packing winds at 60-75km per hour. It is forecast to move west and be situated at about 120km in the maritime area off the south-central provinces from Phu Yen to Ninh Thuan by 4:00 am on Tuesday.

Business

— A large number of cheap airfares and tours, along with special service discounts of 30-40 percent, will be launched at the Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) 2020, which is scheduled to take place at the Culture and Friendship Palace in Hanoi from November 18 to 21. 

Lifestyle

— A festival to honor and promote the cultural identity of the Muong ethnic minority group will be held in the north-central province of Thanh Hoa on December 10-12, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

— Music, horse racing, and food will be featured at the Bac Ha Winter Festival from November 20 to 22 as the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai attempts to attract tourists back to Bac Ha District, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
