-- Local authorities in the north-central province of Ha Tinh on Wednesday said they had one day earlier discovered a 250kg tiger fainting due to an electric shock at the house of D.N.Ngh., who later admitted that he had bought the animal from north-central Nghe An Province to produce tiger balm.

-- Police in the north-central province of Thanh Hoa are investigating a case in which a student in Lang Chanh High School allegedly beat a schoolmate, causing the latter to suffer traumatic brain injury.

-- The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in collaboration with Vietnamese carrier Bamboo Airways will offer 500 free air tickets from Ho Chi Minh City to Nghe An Province, Thanh Hoa Province, and Hanoi for underprivileged workers and Youth Union members on the occasion of the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, or Tet, holiday, which starts on February 12 this year.

-- Vietnam’s COVID-19 tally on Wednesday night reached 1,544 cases, with 1,406 recoveries and 35 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health.

-- Quarantine zones in the southern province of Kien Giang bordering Cambodia are being expanded to serve the rising number of overseas Vietnamese coming home for Tet.

-- Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday started the construction of the 1,000-bed Hoc Mon General Hospital at a cost of more than VND1,890 billion (US$81 million) funded by the city's coffers.

-- More than 5,300 square meters of dioxin-contaminated land in Ho Cong 2 area at Bien Hoa Airport in the southern province of Dong Nai was detoxified and recovered, the Vietnam News Agency reported on Wednesday, quoting the national steering committee on the settlement of post-war unexploded ordnance and toxic chemical consequences in Vietnam (Steering Committee 701),


-- ‘Hay Trao Cho Anh’ (Give It to Me), a 2019 hit by Vietnamese famous singer Son Tung M-TP in collaboration with American rapper Snoop Dogg, on Wednesday topped the Billboard LyricFind Global Chart after one and a half years since it was released.
