Society

-- Sixteen new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Vietnam on Sunday evening, including 12 locally-transmitted infections in Hai Duong Province and four imported ones in Tay Ninh and Hau Giang Provinces, bringing the total patient count to 2,448. A total of 32 COVID-19 patients were announced on Sunday to have fully recovered, raising the recoveries to 1,876.

-- Border guards at the Tra Linh border gate in northern Cao Bang Province on Sunday afternoon received from the Chinese government 34 Vietnamese citizens who had illegally crossed the border between 2019 and 2021.

-- Border guards across Vietnam had detected 101 cases of illegal entry into the country from China and Cambodia as of 6:00 pm on Sunday.

-- The Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City announced on Sunday evening that the retest result of a suspected COVID-19 case in the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu returned negative for the novel coronavirus.

-- The Center for Disease Control in the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang is looking for passengers on a coach from the southern province of Binh Duong after a man aboard the bus suddenly died on the way on Sunday morning.

-- A delivery man magically caught a three-year-old girl falling from the 12th floor of an apartment building in Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi late on Sunday afternoon. The baby has broken arms and legs, but her health has been temporarily stable.

-- The field hospital No. 1 for COVID-19 treatment in Chi Linh City in the epicenter of Hai Duong has been suspended from Sunday after completing its mission, treating over 300 patients during its one-month operation from January 28.

Business

-- The consumer price index in February picked up 1.52 percent against the previous month, the biggest increase recorded over the last eight years, according to the General Statistics Office.

-- The General Statistic Office will conduct a 2021 economic census to evaluate the growth in quantity, size, and labor of economic establishments nationwide starting from Monday.

Education

-- All students in Ho Chi Minh City returned to school on Monday morning after a month-long break for the Lunar New Year holiday and COVID-19 prevention and control.
