Two people were hospitalized with serious injuries after a pickup truck crashed into three automobiles and two motorbikes along a street in Hanoi on Saturday afternoon.

The accident took place on Tan Mai Street in Hoang Mai District at around 2:00 pm, an eyewitness told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.

The pickup truck was running on the road when it collided with three cars and two motorbikes traveling in the same direction.

Three people on the two motorcycles were injured, two of whom suffered serious wounds and were brought to the hospital for emergency treatment.

“It appeared that the pickup truck driver lost control of the vehicle," the eyewitness elaborated.

"The automobile was traveling on the street when it suddenly rushed toward the sidewalk.

The pile-up resulted in traffic congestion on Tan Mai Street, while all vehicles were damaged.

Police officers arrived shortly after to deal with the case.

According to Giao Thong (Traffic) newspaper, managed by the National Committee for Traffic Safety, the pickup truck driver has been identified as Dang Ngoc L., 38.

The two hospitalized victims are L.V.K. and his wife, Ng. Th. H., who are both 36.
