Contact tracing begins as employee at Saigon expats’ favorite supermarket contracts coronavirus

Contact tracing begins as employee at Saigon expats’ favorite supermarket contracts coronavirus

Local authorities in Thu Duc City under Ho Chi Minh City have issued a notification to look for people who might have come into contact with a COVID-19 patient working at MM Mega Market in An Phu Ward.

The Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control in Thu Duc City confirmed the coronavirus infection on Tuesday.

The authorities have also suspended MM Mega Market, which is popular with expats in the city, from the same day until the next notice.

They are conducting an epidemiological investigation of the people involved.

In order to control the spread of the disease in the community, people who have been to MM Mega Market during the following time periods are requested to immediately contact their local medical stations for health declaration and further instructions on pandemic prevention and control measures:

1. June 14 (from 2:00 pm to 11:00 pm)

2. June 15 (from 2:00 pm to 11:00 pm)

3. June 16 (from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm)

4. June 17 (from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm)

5. June 18 (from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm)

6. June 19 (from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm)

7. June 20 (from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm)

8. June 21 (from 2:00 pm to 11:00 pm)

9. June 22 (from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm)

10. June 23 (from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm)

11. June 24 (from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm)

12. June 25 (from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm)

13. June 26 (from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm)

14. June 27 (from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm)

People living in An Phu Ward are also asked to go to the ward’s medical station at 168 Nguyen Hoang Street to receive medical instructions.

Vietnam has reported 16,507 coronavirus cases, including 14,717 local and 1,790 imported cases, since the beginning of the pandemic in the country.

Of that, 12,147 local infections have been recorded across 48 of the nation’s 63 provinces and cities, including 3,651 in Ho Chi Minh City, since a new round of transmissions erupted on April 27.

A total of 6,764 patients have recovered from the respiratory disease.

Eighty coronavirus-related deaths have been logged, most due to serious underlying health conditions.
