COVID-19 Updates

-- The Vietnamese Ministry of Health on Monday morning confirmed 662 new COVID-19 cases, including three imported cases and 544 infections in Ho Chi Minh City, raising the caseload to 30,478 cases, with 9,275 recoveries and 119 deaths.

-- Pou Chen Vietnam Enterprise Ltd. in southern Dong Nai Province asked its 16,700 workers to stay home for 14 days, starting Sunday, as two of them tested positive for the coronavirus and the company is located in a medical isolation area.

-- Seven out of the nine most populous urban areas in southern Binh Duong Province have come into social distancing under the prime minister’s Directive No. 16 as its local COVID-19 caseload hit 1,500 cases on Sunday.

-- A volunteer student at a medical center and a security guard at a centralized quarantine facility in south-central Phu Yen Province have contracted the coronavirus, authorities said on Sunday evening.

-- Authorities in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday requested the suspension of 29 out of 250 companies at Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone for medical isolation over suspected coronavirus infections.

-- People in Thu Duc City under Ho Chi Minh City with symptoms of COVID-19 can call the hotline number 0854.38.34.38, which has been put into use from Sunday afternoon, to have medical workers come to their home to collect samples for testing.

-- Authorities in Can Tho have decided to impose social distancing under the prime minister’s Directive No. 15 in the entire Mekong Delta city for 14 days, starting from Monday.

-- The Ministry of National Defense has just sent a mobile COVID-19 testing van from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City in order to strengthen the testing capacity in the southern metropolis, according to Sai Gon Giai Phong (Liberated Saigon) newspaper.

-- Police in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City has detained a 36-year-old local man for causing a fire that burned down three houses early on Sunday morning.
