-- The Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control received 54,700 more doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine allocated by the Ministry of Health on Sunday morning.

-- A man in the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong has been fined VND7.5 million (US$328) for forging his COVID-19 test result from negative to positive by himself to avoid working.

-- Mobile medical stations in Ho Chi Minh City have been overloaded as more than 82,000 app-based delivery workers have signed up for rapid COVID-19 tests to meet the requirements for their operations.

-- Nearly 2,700 fishermen have been in dire need of food aid on fishing boats offshore southern Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province as the provincial authorities have banned all boats, including their supply boats, from leaving ports from August 25 for COVID-19 prevention.

-- The People’s Committee of Ha Long City in northern Quang Ninh Province has allowed the reopening of beaches and some sports activities from Sunday after completing vaccination against COVID-19 for about 90 percent of its adults.

-- A low-pressure area will cause heavy rains in the central, south-central, Central Highlands, and southern regions on Monday and Tuesday, according to the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.

-- Police in northern Bac Giang Province said on Sunday that they had initiated legal proceedings against a Chinese director and a Vietnamese deputy director of two local companies for directing their workers to illegally transport and bury about 257 metric tons of industrial waste.

-- The two low-risk districts of Cu Chi and Can Gio in Ho Chi Minh City welcomed their first tourists in months, who are 227 medical workers from other localities that had come to assist the city in the fight against COVID-19, on two special tours on Sunday.

-- Twenty-four provinces and cities in Vietnam are currently providing lessons for students from first to 12th grades via television and online classes due the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Ministry of Education and Training.

-- Vietnam drew 1-1 with the Czech Republic in their final Group D match of the FIFA Futsal World Cup Lithuania 2021 at the Kaunas Arena on Sunday night to advance to the Round of 16 as one of the best third-placed finishers.
