-- Vietnamese State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc held talks with First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz Canel in Havana on Sunday (local time), as part of his official visit from September 18 to 20.

-- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked the COVAX Facility to quickly allocate COVID-19 vaccines to Vietnam during a teleconference with its Office Managing Director Aurélia Nguyen on Monday.

COVID-19 Updates

-- The Vietnamese government on Monday issued a resolution on the purchase of 10 million doses of Abdala COVID-19 vaccine developed by Cuba’s Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology.

-- The Hanoi People’s Committee has allowed the resumption of multiple services including barbershops as more relaxed social distancing measures were implemented in the capital from 6:00 am on Tuesday.

-- Health authorities in Ho Chi Minh City are considering shutting down some quarantine facilities and makeshift COVID-19 treatment hospitals since many coronavirus patients have been treated at home and their recovery rate has also been increasing.

-- The Vietnamese Ministry of Health has allowed the administration in each locality to freely decide whether to shorten the interval between two shots of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

-- Ho Chi Minh City will conduct rapid COVID-19 testing on all residents in high-risk areas once every two days in one week, according to the municipal steering committee for pandemic prevention and control.

-- The southern province of Long An has downgraded its social distancing level and allowed fully vaccinated residents and recovered coronavirus patients to travel freely in the province from Tuesday.
