Vietnam confirms 29,413 new COVID-19 cases

The Ministry of Health logged 29,413 more COVID-19 patients in Vietnam on Monday, together with 6,193 recoveries and 91 virus-related mortalities.

The newest cases, including 10 imported and 29,403 domestic transmissions, were found in all 63 provinces and cities, the health ministry said, elaborating that 20,924 contracted the virus in the community.

Hanoi recorded 3,507 of the latest local cases, Hai Duong Province 1,915, Hai Phong City 1,489, Nghe An Province 1,385, Lang Son Province 1,379, Nam Dinh Province 1,362, Thai Nguyen Province 1,275, Phu Tho Province 1,053, Vinh Phuc Province 982, Bac Ninh Province 922, Quang Ninh Province 892, Da Nang 787, Quang Nam Province 587, Hung Yen Province 539, Lao Cai Province 429, Yen Bai Province 347, Lam Dong Province 307, Ho Chi Minh City 285, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province 282, Khanh Hoa Province 209, Thua Thien-Hue Province 200, Ha Giang Province 100, Binh Thuan Province 76, and Can Tho City 14.  

Vietnam had registered 26,372 locally-transmitted infections on Sunday.

The country has detected 2,533,101 community transmissions in all its 63 provinces and cities since the fourth virus wave broke out on April 27, 2021. More than 2.23 million of them have recovered from COVID-19.

Ho Chi Minh City has been most affected with 516,136 patients, followed by Binh Duong Province with 293,143, Hanoi with 172,273, Dong Nai Province with 100,094, Tay Ninh Province with 88,770, Ca Mau Province 57,622, Binh Phuoc Province 49,058, Dong Thap Province with 47,637, Vinh Long Province 44,768, Can Tho City with 44,567, Da Nang with 44,465, Long An Province with 41,871, An Giang Province with 35,672, Tien Giang Province with 35,409, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province with 32,392, and Binh Thuan Province with 30,004.

Vietnam reported merely 1,570 locally-transmitted infections in total in the previous three waves.

The health ministry announced 6,193 hospital discharges on Monday, raising the national count to 2,232,947.

The toll has risen to 39,037, with 91 virus-associated deaths added today. 

Vietnam has confirmed 2,540,273 patients in total, including 198 imported and community-based Omicron infections, since the COVID-19 pandemic first hit the country in early 2020.

Healthcare workers have given more than 186 million vaccine doses, including 247,072 shots on Sunday, since vaccination was rolled out nationwide on March 8, 2021.

Over 79.2 million of the country’s 98 million people have received at least one dose while above 74.7 million have been jabbed twice.

The number of third doses – including additional primary shots for immunocompromised people, boosters, and third jabs of Cuba’s Abdala vaccine has topped 32 million.
