The Ministry of Health confirmed 265,143 coronavirus infections in Vietnam on Wednesday, along with 65,872 recoveries and 109 virus-related fatalities.

The newest cases, including 20 imported and 265,143 domestic transmissions, were detected in all 63 provinces and cities, the health ministry said.

Nghe An, Bac Giang, and Quang Ninh Provinces logged 116,562 of the latest local cases, including 100,567 infections added from previous days; Hanoi 31,365; Bac Ninh Province 9,068; Phu Tho Province 5,594; Son La Province 4,924; Hung Yen Province 4,102; Binh Duong Province 3,993; Nam Dinh Province 3,980; Ca Mau Province 3,294; Hai Phong City 3,027; Dien Bien Province 2,772; Binh Dinh Province 2,620; Ho Chi Minh City 2,463; Binh Phuoc Province 2,316; Khanh Hoa Province 1,861; Da Nang 1,758; Lam Dong Province 1,224; Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province 957; Thua Thien-Hue Province 368; and Can Tho City 191.

Vietnam had recorded 194,795 domestically-transmitted infections on Tuesday.

The country has registered 5,034,498 community transmissions in all its 63 provinces and cities since the fourth virus wave broke out on April 27, 2021. Above 2.8 million of them have recovered from COVID-19.

Ho Chi Minh City tops the caseload with 557,003 patients, followed by Hanoi with 491,568, Binh Duong Province with 322,628, Bac Ninh Province 203,589, Nghe An Province 172,065, Hai Duong Province 108,991, Dong Nai Province with 102,779, Tay Ninh Province with 96,842, Hai Phong City 88,551, Ca Mau Province 80,912, Binh Phuoc Province 74,985, Da Nang with 72,123, and Can Tho City with 46,386.

Vietnam reported only 1,570 locally-transmitted infections in total in the previous three waves.

The health ministry announced 65,872 recovered patients on Wednesday, raising the national count to 2,855,214.

The toll has increased to 41,086, with 109 pathogen-associated deaths added today. 

Vietnam has documented 5,042,036 patients in total since the COVID-19 pandemic first hit the country in early 2020.

Health workers have administered over 198.6 million vaccine doses, including 379,421 shots on Tuesday, since inoculation was rolled out nationwide on March 8, 2021.

Upwards of 181.6 million doses have been given to the adult demographic of the country’s 98 million people, including 70,877,968 first shots, 67,723,146 second doses, 14,335,007 additional primary jabs, and 27,178,719 boosters.    

A total of 17,040,165 shots have been injected into children aged 12-17, including 8,745,928 first doses and 8,294,237 second jabs.
